Transparent Fee Structure

The fee for legal services is always agreed individually, taking into account the nature of the matter, its complexity, time requirements, and the level of legal risk involved. Transparency and predictability of costs are fundamental principles for us. From the very beginning of the cooperation, the client must understand how the fee will be determined, what factors influence it, and what possible financial scenarios may arise during the course of the case.

Before legal representation begins, we therefore openly discuss the most appropriate fee model, explain its advantages as well as any potential risks, and propose a solution that best reflects the specific needs of the client. In some cases, stability and predictability of costs are the priority; in others, sharing the risk or minimizing the initial financial burden may be more appropriate.

Our goal is not only to provide legal services, but also to build a long-term and trustworthy relationship in which a clear and fair fee structure forms an essential part.

Contractual Fee – Hourly

An hourly fee is the most common method of determining the price of legal services. The amount of the fee is based on the actual time spent and the agreed hourly rate.

Before providing legal services, we always inform the client of a qualified estimate of the expected time requirements of the case so that the client has a realistic idea of the anticipated financial scope of the representation. However, due to the individual nature of each legal matter, the exact number of hours cannot be guaranteed.

We always charge only for the actual time spent, not for whole commenced hours. For example, if a consultation lasts half an hour, only half of the hourly rate will be charged.

The hourly rate in our law office ranges from CZK 1,800 to CZK 3,000 depending on the complexity of the matter. The specific hourly rate will be agreed with the client before legal services are provided.

This fee model is typically used particularly in civil litigation, criminal defense, or administrative proceedings.

Contractual Fee – Per Legal Act

A per-act fee is determined according to the number of legal acts performed. The total fee corresponds to the number of acts multiplied by the agreed amount per act.

Legal acts are defined by legal regulations (e.g. taking over and preparing representation, drafting a lawsuit, attending a court hearing, legal analysis, consultation with the client, etc.). The amount for one act may be agreed individually or determined according to the applicable regulation governing the attorney’s tariff.

When calculated according to the attorney’s tariff, the so-called tariff value is used, meaning the value of the subject matter of the dispute. For orientation:

  • when recovering an amount of CZK 20,000, the fee for one act is CZK 1,900,
  • for a dispute value of CZK 100,000, the fee for one act is CZK 5,100.

This calculation method is also used by courts when awarding reimbursement of legal costs. In the event of procedural success, the opposing party is therefore obliged to reimburse the costs of legal representation calculated according to these rules.

Contractual Fee – Contingency (Success-Based)

A contingency or success-based fee is based on the principle of sharing in the achieved result. The fee is determined as a percentage of the amount recovered or, conversely, the amount saved.

This model is particularly suitable in cases where the outcome of the dispute is uncertain and the client prefers to share the risk. In the event of success, the fee is usually higher than under the hourly or per-act model. In the event of failure, however, it is significantly lower or even zero.

The percentage share is agreed individually depending on the value of the case, the complexity of the matter, and the level of risk involved. It usually ranges between 10% and 25% of the achieved result.

This form of fee is typically used in debt recovery, claims for damages, insurance claims, or in situations where the client faces unjustified claims and the objective is to achieve financial savings. I also use this type of fee in criminal proceedings when the client is acquitted; in such cases the specific amount is agreed individually.

Example: If a claim of CZK 150,000 is asserted against the client and the plaintiff is unsuccessful in full, the fee with an agreed 10% share would amount to CZK 15,000.

Contractual Fee – Flat Monthly Fee

A flat monthly fee is particularly suitable for entrepreneurs and business companies that require long-term and systematic legal advice.

The client pays an agreed monthly amount regardless of the number of legal acts performed or the time spent on individual matters. This model enables ongoing legal consultations, quick availability of legal support, and stable cost planning. Within this model, we always strive to ensure that the client receives services each month at least within the minimum agreed scope.

Under this model we provide the client with comprehensive legal services; we inform them about legislative amendments and their impact on their business, update legal documentation necessary for business activities when legislation changes, conduct regular legal audits for companies, and generally monitor the legal health of the client’s business.

The scope of services and the amount of the monthly fee are always individually agreed depending on the needs and size of the client.

Contractual Fee – Fixed Amount

For selected legal services, it is possible to agree on a final price in advance. The client thus has certainty regarding a fixed amount regardless of the actual time spent.

This method is typically used for non-contentious matters, for example when preparing contractual documentation or providing an attorney escrow service.

Indicative prices for the most common services:

  • Real estate purchase agreement – CZK 7,000
  • Attorney escrow for purchase price – CZK 5,000
  • Preparation of an application for registration of rights in the land register – CZK 2,500
  • Complete real estate transfer including escrow and land registry proceedings – CZK 13,000
  • Lease agreement – CZK 5,000
  • Gift agreement for real estate – CZK 5,000
  • Gift agreement with establishment of an easement – CZK 6,000
  • Will – from CZK 3,000 to CZK 7,000 depending on scope

The above amounts are indicative and may vary depending on the specific complexity of the matter. Administrative fees (for example fees for land registry proceedings) are not included in the above prices.

Statutory Fee

If no specific fee arrangement is agreed between the attorney and the client, the amount of the fee is determined according to the applicable legal regulations governing the attorney’s tariff.

The calculation principle is similar to the per-act fee – the fee is determined according to the number of legal acts performed and the tariff value of the matter. The tariff value corresponds to the value of the subject matter of the dispute.

In practice, different fee structures may be appropriately combined. Depending on the nature of the case, for example, an hourly or per-act fee may be supplemented by a contingency component for success, or a fixed fee may be agreed for a certain part of the work while court representation is charged separately.

Such a combined model allows for a fair distribution of risks between the attorney and the client while motivating both parties toward an efficient and economically reasonable approach.

Each case is assessed individually. The specific fee proposal always results from a detailed analysis of the matter, the expected complexity, the value of the dispute, and procedural risks. The aim is to set cooperation conditions that are fair, clear, and reflect the real needs of the client as well as the complexity of the case.
